South Florida radio courts hip hop fans
South Florida's 103.5 SHE FM (a longtime rock station before switching formats repeatedly) has morphed back into The Beat, a hiphop/R&B station. I wrote an article for my paper the Sun Sentinel on the various formats this radio station has had over the years (103 She's Only Rock 'n Roll, Variety Hits, etc) and why it's courting South Florida's hip hop fans. Some folks may be surprised to learn that the two of the top radio stations in Miami-Fort Lauderdale play urban adult contemporary and some hip-hop related TV shows also do extremely well here.
