RIP Chet Curtis, the mayor of Boston TV news for decades. I remember having lunch with him in Marina Bay in Quincy in the
summer of 2011 for a story I wrote (maybe his last interview with the
Globe) on how former big-time Boston anchors like him were
being relegated to smaller roles and how times were changing in local
TV news. Chet was a gentleman and relished in sharing stories about his
glory days at WCVB. He also told me how much he loved coming down to
Fort Lauderdale for respites from Boston. And he really enjoyed it when
passersby recognized him and greeted him like an old friend. (This is the article from that lunch interview) And here is today's obit from The Boston Globe.
